How I Conquered Vertigo!
I am now 26 years old and have suffered from vertigo most of my natural life. I recalled times when I woke up with my world spinning and all I can do was flip over and make myself go back to sleep so I wont have to feel the pain much longer.
After years of paying attention to how and when it happens. I believe I completely cured my vertigo migraines. I am going 3 years strong without any occurances. The steps I took is very simple, it worked for me and it wouldn’t hurt for you to try the same. Just maybe, it will work for you too.
I realize it was my sleep pattern. Everytime I end up over sleeping, thats 9 hours or more. I almost always get vertigo. And for the past couple years, I really paid attention to how much I slept. I always slept 6-8 hours a day, never more.
Lastly, your sleep pattern should be the same daily. For instance, if you sleep at 9 or 10 everyday, than you should stick to that pattern. Once you get use to sleeping at a certain time and lets say one night you end up sleeping at 2-3 in the morning. Than your chances of getting vertigo goes up just like that.
After I changed my sleeping pattern as mentioned above, I believe I am now completely cured. I went from getting it weekly to getting none for a couple years now. It is a great feeling and I hope my tips will help you also.

Thank you so much for your tip. I had a vertigo attack just two days ago, and like you said “all I can do was flip over and make myself go back to sleep”, since I was incapable of anything else.
I’ll try monitoring my sleep patterns from now on, thanks again for sharing your experiences, take care.

Hello Grace,
I know how bad it is when you get those attacks, I can only hope your sleep pattern would make it better or better yet go away completely….
I wish you lots of luck and hope you get better soon.

Very appreciate your tips. I had my first vertigo in year 2001, and had it again last Dec and was admited to hospital for about 1 week. After I discharged from the hospital, I found out that is was my seeping pattern( this is what I really agree with what you said). Now, I make mysely to sleep according to what you said, and have to live in stress free, I think this will help us to reduce the risk to get the vertigo again. I pray and pray not to have it again, its really a hard time for me.

Dear Iyca, please stay in stress free and change your sleeping pattern, I think this may help us to get away from vertigo. Take care.

hey Peggy, nice last name, mines is the same! Anyways, I was just wondering, since you started getting your sleep pattern back to normal. Have you had any vertigo headaches since then?
To be honest, I have not had the migraine in so long that I dont even remember the last time it happened. Life is great without it and I hope you and everyone else is learning how to conquer this because it is possible.

hello..thanks for sharing. this was really helpful. i thought i was the weirdo who had this kind of problem. i knew that i was having vertigo all along but these few dys lasted really badly. When you shared your story, i realize that it is vertigo. I can’t sleep more than 9 hours a day and i always wondered why! I felt dizzy if i hit 8 hours or more and whenever i take naps for more than an hour, i feel queasy when i get up! it had ruined most of my sleeping patterns cause ive got really bad dark eye circles so ppl always told me to sleep more but ya.. it fired back! this was really helpful as i can tell this problem to my doctor when i go for a checkup again
thank you so much!

I found your comment most interesting…last few days I’ve suffered a mild bout of vertigo…and trying to find a cause I suspected that the recent time change was responsible! As a senior I’ve learned that we become more sensitive…even the hour difference and the resulting shift in daylight hours, causing me to retire earlier and rise earlier is what perhaps caused a certain kind of stress. This site was helfpul. Good luck.

I have been suffering from vertigo for weeks. I saw the ENT doctor who prescribed Betaserc for me to take. Within a month I still had six attacks. My head would spin for hours and I would throw up everything. The suffering lasted more than 12 hours. Then I saw a Chinese physician who applied hot bamboo suction cups on my back and massaged my head. There was temporary relief bot soon the attacks came again. Please kindly advise.

i have had vertigo twice in my life i am 22 the first time it happened to me was when i was 21 and that episode was the worst i honestly thought i had been drugged, i was at work at the time when it happened and was out of work for a month and a half. Right now I am suffering AGAIN it’s not as severe with the vomitting but the whole world is spinning to me thats how i feel along with a headache that i’ve had for a week literally. i feel that my sleeping habbits are shot big time i do feel that i suffer from insomnia i wake up after 2-3 hours of sleep and don’t go to sleep until 4 or 5 in the morning. I am so happy to hear that sleeping could have soething to do with it and not a tumor. thank you

Just found this site, glad I did. I’ve been home now for the past week, after experiencing my first bout of vertigo. I’m 53 years old. I woke up last Wednesday with the room spinning harshly, broke out in a soaking sweat. Couldn’t get on my feet, wife called 911. Taken to the hospital, had a CT scan along with chest xray and bloodwork. Vertigo was the diagnosis.
I had to take off work, as I’m a maintenance tech at a factory and have to climb many flights of stairs, as well as, use scissor lifts for overhead work. I can just imagine the spinning sensation hitting me while elevated.
The tip about getting regular sleep has me concerned, as I have to rotate shifts from days to evenings every two weeks. Going back to work in a few days. Guess we’ll see.
Great site. Saving it to my favorites.

Hi,
I’ve suffered from bouts of vertigo for the past 3 years. I usually get it when I’m not looking after myself properly and am run down, though this usually coincides with me sleeping poorly. I’ll definitely try to regulate my sleeping patterns. One thing that does work amazingly well for me on my last bout was acupuncture. I went in feeling exhausted, miserable, sick and dizzy/spinning, and came out full of energy, with my vertigo completely gone! I couldn’t believe it! It might not work for everyone, but it’s worth a try.
